The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to translate the first chapter called "Das spätrömische Reich: Staat, Gesellschaft, Wirtschaft" from the book Rom in der Spätantike. Porträt einer Epoche, written by a German classical philologist Manfred Fuhrmann, from German into Czech. The first part of this work contains the already mentioned translation, the second one focuses on the translation analysis of both texts, on the description of translation method as well as on the typology of translation shifts and problems.
